About the artist
Michelle has been sculpting for well over 20 years. Many years ago when people first saw some of her dog sculptures, and indeed friends and family were frequently receiving sculptures as Christmas presents, they would ask if they could have a sculpture done of one of their own pets but she had never really considered sculpting as a full time job ! It was always purely a way to relax and because of always mixing with animal lovers in the world of dog sport, she appreciated just how much people really do love their pets. From those days, what started off as a hobby has grown into a very enjoyable profession.
Nowadays sculpting is a way of life, and the walls of the studio at her home are shelved to hold finished sculptures and models in various stages of progress. A store of porcelain is always to one side, and the work table always has something 'on the go' on it.
Originally from Jersey in the Channel Islands, she has lived for many years in rural France with her family and her animals. Her dogs are her constant companions, and in the studio there are always several dogs and cats keeping her company. To break from the work table, she trains dogs and also teaches agility at home. The sheep certainly enjoy the entertainment of watching dogs jumping!
Being passionate about agility and competing internationally is a pass-time that co-exists easily with sculpting. In 2008 Michelle will again be competing at various agility competitions in England where her work will be available to view and order.
Having qualified for the Crufts 2008 agility, she will be representing France and will be displaying some of her work at the NEC, next March.
